Sidecar bike for sale 1959... - Motorcycle-Journal Forums

Most of you know of my candy apple red Chinese sidecar bike... if you search by 'Sidecar' or 'backstory' you probably can still find that ad and descriptions I ran here. Well, we sold that for $10,000. The bike is a chinese copy of the BMW R71-75 series from WW2 and really was made in 1959.
(PS It is NOT a Ural but the Russians did make a similar bike in the same era. Russia took the BMW factory out of German and later sold a copy factory to china in early '50s.....both countries made this style copy bike for their armies. )

What you maybe didnt know is that Frank has one too. We bought two bikes identical except for color.... his being wine colored. His was made originally in 1959..completely rebuilt and custom painted in 2004. It has less than 100 km on it since the rebuild... *sigh*.

Anyway, now that we ride our cruisers all the time this thing has sat in a storage locker for more than a year... big shame....so we just brought it out and took it to our local shop for a thorough going over... changed all fluids and tuned it.... runs great.

We want to sell this one now....and would take $9000...as is with a local delivery. It has current oregon tags and a clear title. It has a couple of problems... headlight doesnt light anymore...no power up there... some electrical glitch. And the handlebar chrome and a few other areas are showing rust spots. Other wise you can drive it just fine and everything works well. It is mostly original stuff so you have to baby it. It would be prudent probably to have its wiring redone frankly....cheap Chinese wires...LOL

Anyway, if anyone has hankering to own something unique...and is great fun to ride...and that would make everyone stare.....and take ribbons at local fairs with a bit of rechroming... then you need to PM me !

The pic below is of my bike...but his is identical except for being wine colored rather than red...
