I use regular unleaded gasoline with octane rating of 87 ((R+M)/2 method) as per the manual recommendations (Page 3-2). Guess this is the same as the octane of 91 (research method) for the US. I assume the fuel system is the same on both Cdn and US models. I haven't had any problems whatsoever although the bike is still being broken in (about 1000 kms on it). I read somewhere that using premium gasoline does nothing as far as performance goes, just costs more. Don't know if this is true or not.

Thanks , you have answered my question well. I was reading a comparison test on a bunch of cruisers in an American magazine and it said the C90 uses 90 octane but now I realise that they use a different rating system down there so we would just use regular 87 here in the north.

I use 87. Here's a page from Canadian 2007 C50 manual.
