Default C90T/SE Pet peeves

I have all sorts of musings and questions about my new (1 wk) C90SE. There seems to be little activity on this forum lately. Maybe now is a good time to ask a few questions and maybe regenerate a little more interest...

One thing I noticed last year on the 2007 (and probably 06 and before) and that I see wasn't fixed for 2008, is the location for the helmet lock. With the bags installed on these bikes the lock is hidden and not useable. Why on earth would Suzuki place it there? Or if they wanted in there on the bare-bones C90, why didn't they relocate it on the dressed bikes?

What do you guys do with your helmet(s) when you are off your bike? The stock passenger backrest is wider than most - helmet will fit over it but its tight and I'm afraid that the covering on the backrest will wear from using it regularly as a hat rack.

Could use the mirrors I suppose but never liked doing that. I've been putting my helmet on the pillion and wrapping the strap around the backrest support to keep it there.

Has anybody added after-market helmet locks? What is best - the handlebar type? the ones that clamp to the engine guard or frame? something else?

Anyone else have any "pet peeves" about their C90?

I normally will strap my helmet to the back rest or just hang it from the handlebar (grip not mirror). I recently put a trunk on her and that now holds my helmet. I also do not get the location of the lock.
Other than raising the handlebars 2 inches I think that the C90T is a wonderful bike. Yes, the gas tank is small for such a large bike and I could fix that with a G-tank but I would have to change pipes to do that and I don't know if I really want to do that. Stopping every 130 miles to smell the roses is ok with me.

I bought a set of the Kewlock handlebar helmet locks that go on the end of the handlebars when I bought my Kurykyn grips. They work great. Should be able to get them at any bike shop or online. They range from 79-99 a pair if I remember right.

You need a T-30 secuity bit, remove the lock and remount it somewhere else.

If you have a rack you could put it there or on the fender strut in front of the bag.

I asked the same question. Really stupid to leave it there. I did not buy a C90!! I hang my helmet on my mirror and have a small brass lock that fits nicely through my d rings and then lock it to the brake lever.

I carry my helmet inside or leave it on the seat. Plus I have a folding backrest which I fold over to help hold the helmet in place.

Pet peeves- weak charging system, small tank, front fork deceleration wobble, floating rotors, and the de-comp cable.

Yeah, the decomp cable!! Mine has been hard starting the past few days but today zero problems. Started like it had a fresh battery.

My only dislike so far is the suspension. I have to find time to adjust the rear shock and sometime in the future get progressive fork springs. The clutch was a bit of an issue for me until I adjusted the setting to # 4 now its not too bad.

Found the trunk on ebay. Name started with a M (Japanese name) for 115.00.
It also has sexy "night rider" lights on the spoiler. Bolts down to the rack.
It works ok and hods enough but I am not completly happy with the latch. It loosens and then rattles over bumps. The company has other trunks without the lights but with different locks.

Default Helmet Lock for C90T with Bags

Read where some riders have used gun cable locks to secure thier helmets to the their backrest/luggage rack. Gonna give that a try.

Definately a good reason to wear your helmet

is the charging system really weak -- i have the c90T on my short list for my next bike -- i was hoping it would be strong enough to run heated vest/gloves and hopefully a light bar -- i would be running higher RPMS most of the time as my commute is on the slab/superslab and only a 5 minutes or so across town

as for the helmet lock i had the same issue on my S50 with saddle bags -- i used a dog choker and a master lock and chained it to a front fork when i was parked somewhere i was worried someone might walk off with it

Suzuki has "improved" the charging system on the 90, the problems mostly involved the 05' and 06'. It mostly stems from the RR being located inside the left side bulbous cover allowing too much heat, possibly a defective run of stators and the main wires being located in an area susceptible to heat. There are mods on the web to remedy this problem.
