| I'm considering getting a 1994 vs1400, it has 25,000 miles. Are there any reliability issues with this bike? Is there anything that I should be particularly concerned about? Thanks, David |

| TurtleWax Taster ![]() | My dad has one. It is a pretty good bike. Only downfall I think is that is is cooolld natured. Other than that he really likes it. He is planning to add different bars. As far as reliability goes he has never ha a hitch with it knock on wood.

| They are great bikes. You need to cange the clutch fluid every year or two, or the hydraulic clutch can act funny. The rear brake pads wear out somewhat quickly, but aftermarket pads help this. Tighten the battery connections once a year. Other than that, they are problem free. I know plenty of folks who got 75,000-85,000 miles out of an Intruder 1400 without any mechanical problems.

I put a CORBIN seat on my VS1400... awesome. VERY comfortable- at least for the DRIVER (passenger-wise, these bikes aren't the best for riders (or hot ladies ; ) over about 5' 5". We had mine jetted and added a Cobra exhaust(sounds FABULOUS) but the gas milage went down for sure. RUNS GREAT - only gets 28-31mpg... not so good. | |
