Default Would you like a little putty with your gas tank??

Putty,,,did you say putty??

Well if you haven't been following the gas tank recall on the C90's and the LC1500's then you are WAY BEHIND on the fix. Basically they are going to re-pad/cushion the tanks on the two bikes if they are not leaking. If they are leaking they will re-place the gas tank all together.

BUT....... ,,ready for this.

Suzuki only expected about 5% of the total number of bikes built to be affected with the cracks in the tanks,, they would just have to re-pad the remaining ones. OOOOOooooooppppppssss. Seems that Suzuki didn't do their math. Innitial reports say that about 35% of the bikes coming into the shops for the recall have the cracked problem and Suzuki nor the manufacturer of the tanks was prepared for that.

So in their infinite wisdom, not to mention the thousands of complaints from the thousands of owners who's bikes have been held hostage for weeks and months,,, Suzuki has decided to use an Aircraft Epoxy from a company out of Pelham, Alabama to temporarily patch the leaks until new tanks come in.

So if you are awaiting a new tank you should get your "fix" soon. Expect a 30 hour cure time, for the epoxy which will never fully harden, when your bike gets it's "Putty" applied to the tank.

Is this a good fix???? It's better than nothing I guess. At least I will finally get to ride my bike this season.

Sean,

Just be sure to really look that baby over (and make them put a FULL tank it).

I put epoxy on my older Seca II tank and it worked the 1st time....for about 12 hours until it started leaking again. I tried a 2nd time after about 4 days cure and it held. (granted this wasn't so called aircraft epoxy). Just keep checking it.

You don't mean the smell and the resulting buzz, do you?

They tried that, but there were too many fires and explosions.

I guess they forgot to put water in the tank.

Do you think it's good enough to take to Gatlinburg?

It is not really visisble unless you stand beside the seat and look between the gaps. Fot the most part you have to know where to look.

As far as Gatlinburg,,,,it's going,, fireball or no fireball it is going.

Actually my tank only had a hairline crack and had not developed into a slosshing gass out of the tank crack so the putty will seal it up good enough. Haven't smelled the gas smell I was smelling before. I rode it all last summer and fall with that smell so I guess it will be fine.

But I will be there throwing that big boy around the curves!!!!!

With "J" on the back screaming all the way!!!!

I would assume that the phrase "Coming and going." has a whole different meaning to a Hermaphrodite.....
