Well the putty seems top harden up as it ages. It is more of a rubber feeling consistancy now. So hopefully it will hold until the new tank gets in. I ahve to start getting the feel of the bike again. Trying to lean it too far in the corners now since I am used to riding the V-Strom.

Default Tank Recall?

My wife & I are new to the Suzuki world and this thread is a bit of a concern. Bought a '99 1500 Intruder for her about a week ago and have noticed an odor of gas a couple of times when stopped. At first thought it might just have been gas vapors from the carbs, now I'm a bit worried.

I'd sure appreciate someone out there putting up a bit more info on what bikes are affected, etc.

In any case, thanks a lot!

Best way to find out if your bike is affected by the recall is to call a dealer and give them the VIN, and have them run it.

Ok, now I'm really worried. I have just read two threads where the recall for the leaky gas tank and the putty solution have been going on since about 2006. I got my bike used, from a guy that just sells used bikes, for like the last 25 years (no joke!) and has a great rep. Anyway, how do I know if my bike 2005 C90 is up for recall, and how do I get on Suzuki's possible future recall list??

This is how to see if your bike was affected by the recall.

OK, turns out that my bike was included in the recall, and even tho that was 18 months ago, it wasn't handled by the prior owner.... Interesting, huh? Does anyone know how I can make sure I receive all future recall notices? Will having Suzuki service done ensure this?
(The first Suzuki shop I called - I explained what I knew, and the woman asked if I had had the recall work done at the shop where she worked. I explained that I hadn't owned the bike that long, thats why I was calling. She said, well if it wasn't done here, there's no way for me to know. Oddly, the second shop just accessed some Suzuki database?!?!)
