Yea,, more like a breach around with a kick.

Whatever it is,, I don't care. I need my bike back so I can make the Dragon Trip. I could do it on the Wee-Strom but it's payload limits me to either just "J" and me without luggage or just me with luggage.

If I had the Clydesdale back then I could load that bad boy all the way up with both of us and our luggage.

Kind of makes me want to tell them to stick the bike up their tails and go get me a Wing or a new VTX1800. They were practically giving away the 1800's here a few months ago. $7900.00 otd is what a couple guys I know paid for theirs,, brand new at that.

I wonder what the lemon law will do for me if I lemon the bike because it has been in the shop for 42 days now without a fix that they are allowed to tell me about.

Forget the Lemon Law......

Three times for the same problem.......

Check with Rickster on that Payload thing. Besides, aren't you trailering for some of the ride anyway?

No,,, I'm riding all the way up there. Pete and Rae may be trailering. I am not sure. But the GVWR is 925 pounds,, the bike weighs in at 415 pounds dry. Another 45 pounds for fuel. That leaves 465 pounds for us to pack and for both of us. We could do it but it doesn't leave alot of room to play with for suspension travel. Plus I really want to hear those pipes rumble through town and through the mountains.

Not to mention that the LC is way more comfortable than the Wee and is able to pull better in all the gears.

If you are even remotely suggesting that "somebody" is a little heavy to ride 2-Up on that bike............I'll rat you out in a New York minute!!!!

465 lbs. is quite a bit of a margin. Even IF you BOTH weighed 200 lbs. You still have 65 lbs. of CLOTHES to play with. Plus you can dial in some more pre-load to compensate for the passenger and cargo.

naw I ain't even remotely saying that. I had read somewhere that you should never load more than 70% of the GWVR. So that kills my margin of error. I don't know how true this holds but I just ain't sure about all of it.

I have my shop manual here so maybe I will check it out.

Well called the dealer and told him to have my bike ready by Friday,, either with or without the "Fix". He said that he called his rep and that what he was told was the "Fix" is only a temporary fix until they are able to get the replacement tanks in. Said something of the sort about shipping out airplane epoxy and they will be applying that to the leaking tanks. Then when the new tanks come in then take the bike into the dealer to get the repair.

Well sounds like they are thinking exactly what I was intending on doing. I told them if the fix wouldn't have my bike ready by Friday to go get some epoxy or that gas tank repair putty and patch it until they get me another tank,, but regardless get me my bike back by Friday.

He said he would have itr ready by Friday. All I know is there better be a loud as heck VL1500LC pulling in my driveway Friday evening.

My buddy Gary put his 1500LC in the shop 10 weeks ago, up at Action Cycle. Now the dealership has gone out of business! The bike has been towed to another dealer, where the process will start all over again...he is so pissed it isn;t even funny!

The aircraft epoxy sounds like a good temporary fix.

I feel for him. I just flat told the dealer when I called him to have my bike back together by Friday. Put the new brake pads on it so I can get them mountain ready.

I would tell him to call this number 1-714-572-1490. Listen to the prompts,, but I think it is #3 or something like that.

Tell them what has happened and tell them that he wants them to call the dealership and patch it up this week. Supposedly the local rep said that my name was one of the ones at the top of the list.

I thought there was some sort of Lemon Law that required a vechicle to fixed in a reasonable time.
So as there is a large number of you out there, why not get together and get vocal. The threat of a class action should be a big cause for concern.

Well tomorrow the Clydesdale,, aka-the "LC" goes back to the dealer to get her tank replaced finally. Got to spend a few weeks with her before having to take her back. But maybe they will get her done fairly quickly since it is a swap out part this time and not a putty patch job.

Yeah your bike is in that category too. Make sure if you haven't done it already they get the new cushion pads put on your bike before it develops the cracks too.

I know the last post on this thread is 2 months removed, but I thought I would post one more. Saturday(8/12) I bought a 2002 VL1500 and that night found this thread. Well the next Saturday(8/18 ) I took it to the dealer for the recall. I just picked it up today, and am just glad it did not take as long as it did for you guys(I am not rubbing it in). Thanks for the info and great site. I will say I was looking at the Volusia, but am glad I went with the VL1500 instead.

Congrats on the purchase!!!! You will enjoy this bike. It does handle well but after riding the Dragon's Tail and all it's siblings in the area I have determined this bike is more at hom on the open highway. But it will get through those areas pretty well also. Just always keep in mind the ground clearance is pretty low on the bike already and when you add some weight to the bike it is even less in the twisties.

Welcome to the site!!!

I have allready found that out by dragging the left floorboard. The first time it does send a chill up your spine.
