Default Windscreens

Since buying a 1250 last August I've put in many hundreds or thousands of miles on three different windscreens: stock, PowerBronze Touring Screen, and the MRA Vario Touring Screen. I haven't been fond of any of them for wind management. Now I'm going to give the Givi a shot.

Anyone else have experience with any of the aftermarket screens, good or bad?

Default Windscreens

Hey KenBandit,

Check out this site. It won't be available till Monday but I'm seriously considering it.

National Cycle NAT CYCLE VSTREAM WINDSHIELD SUZUKI BANDIT 1250S 07-08 N20200

Got it off the TWT forum. They have a pretty good thread going on Windscreens.

A buddy of mine put one on his Yamaha. He loves it. He is the only one I know with it. Hopefully it would be just as good on a Bandit.

That's a pretty general statement. What exactly don't you like about the ones you've tried? Or.....what do you want that you are not getting ??

Just taking a guess here but if you want a nice big bubble of air around you when you're in an upright seating position.......a tiny little shield just ain't gonna do it.

I guess I'm a function > form guy. It doesn't really matter to me what it looks like, but it has to work - no buffeting and wind that hits the top of the helmet or over it. It must also work well for passengers and not create a vacuum effect.

The stock screen is fine until you get about 60 MPH and then the wind blast in the face makes it useless and I quickly get a sore neck from trying to counter the force of the wind.

The MRA Vario looks great on paper but in reality the adjustable lip has very little effect and the actual shield is shorter than the stock screen.

I'm going to keep the stock screen for short rides, my commute, and general around town riding. Now I have the Givi touring screen for long rides, touring, etc. Too bad it's such a pain to swap screens.

For the record, I'm 5'9" with a 32" inseam.

Hmmmm.....I'm missing a couple of things here.

Didn't realize that you HAD the Givi and that it seemed to solve the problem.
(Is there an invisible post here that I can't see ?? )

Secondly, why not just leave the Givi on all the time......being a function over form kinda guy and all ??

I picked up the Givi this week after making this thread and was hoping for the best. It's the largest screen I've been able to find for the 1250. Sorry for the confusion

As for screen swapping, I guess I'm thinking that for around-town riding the added air would be nice in hot weather riding. But you might be right -- if I like the Givi well enough it might just stay on since changing the screens on this bike isn't a 1 minute job. Some quick release mounts would be awesome!

take the faring off and stop being a puss.

its amazing to me how different all the screens act on the bandit, and that it seems to be an issue for almost everyone to find the "right" screen. no matter the year of the bike, or which screen, nooone seems to be able to get it right on the first try.

me? nekkid. did 600 miles in 2 days this weekend and loved every second. (most of it was thruway driving, 80ish mph)

We're in the same neck of the woods brocoli -- I'm over in Penfield! I've done an SS1K on a 919 but have no desire to be on the receiving end of that much wind for that long any more. From now on, when I do a 1000 mile day, my neck won't be stiff from fighting the wind
