Steve does the new Bandit seat use a different mounting to the older models?...ie lock at the back, two togues half way and a tongue at the front that locate under brackets. If so, and I suspect they do, I will be unable to do the same mod to my 02 model.

The mounting sounds the same as you described, but I have no idea about the spacing and distances between the points. Here's some pictures if this helps. I can probably even take some measurements if you want. Your best bet though is to probably get to a dealer and ask if you can borrow a seat from a GSX650F (or whatever you call it down there) or a Bandit 1250. I suspect that in 07 when the air cooled 1200 Bandit became the water cooled 1250 Bandit there were also some frame changes, and most likely the new seats won't fit on the older bikes. Next time I get together with Clint I'll try swapping seats with him, but with winter closing in on us, that could be a while.

I paid a guy $25 to cut away some padding and recover the seat of my 1250. My buddy brought it to me and we promptly went to put it on the bike.... it didn't fit, it wouldn't go on, it was really frustrating (???). Long story made short, it's fascinating how Suzuki designed this seat to have either a lower seat height or higher. I took the whole danm thing apart trying to discover why it wouldn't fit on the bike. As I studied how it all works, it became apparent that there was quite a bit of work that went into designing this system; pretty neat! Oh, it was the rubber inserts he had turned around backwards that prevented the seat from sitting on the bike.... By the way, simply switching to a GSX650F seat would be to eliminate all that extra hardware and ADDITIONAL seat pan used on the Bandit seat. That additional seat pan gizmo used for raising the seat takes up quite a bit of room. Now I understand why a Corbin seat would be lower without having to compromise comfort.
