Default Rear view mirror visibility/laminar lip?

Hey, y'all!

See my "just joined" posting on 1/14/08. I'm riding my new 1250S and loving it. However, I have to ask...has anyone else had visibility problems with the rear view mirrors? It seems the only way I can see behind me is to draw my arms in extra close to my body before I glance in the mirror. Even then, the right mirror seems almost useless, unless I'm rounding a corner.

I've tried adjusting their position, but I've decided that the problem is that the stalks on these mirrors are just too short. This is my only complaint with this bike, and I'll learn to adapt (I'm turning my head to glance behind me a lot more, which is a good thing). I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, is there a solution (like some kind of handlebar-mounted extention)??

Also, I'm looking into the Laminar Lip for extra wind protection. There are two models, and they're both surprisingly inexpensive. However, the one for touring is weird-looking, shaped in such a way that you look like the old RCA record logo (if you're as old as I am, you'll remember that this is a dog sticking his head into the horn of a grammaphone). The other model is smaller and a little better looking. Has anyone used either of these?

Thanks to all my fellow mighty Bandit riders!!
