I almost bought one last year for my first bike. I would have got it, but I was too big. I don't think Harley, Honda, Kawasaki, or Yamaha have anything close to it in that price range. Under $4,500 for a new, competent, high-quality, Boulevard cruiser?

One warning: there's a small chance you may "outgrow" the S40, depending on your size, riding ability, expectations, etc. But I wouldn't worry too much about that. Go with what you feel comfortable with. Some of my friends said I would soon "outgrow" my Intruder VS 800 and that I'd want an S83 in six months. They were dead wrong: I liked the 800 in the showroom and I like it even more now.
