I'm not that great of a rider (13,000 miles) and I can tell the difference. Heck, I could tell that there was a certain degree of discomfort involved with having a Battlax on the front and a Dunlop 207 on the back! The profiles were different or something.
I just put some new MEZ4s on my 02B6. What a difference! The bike turns again (GASP! Imagine that!). I love these Metzelers . . . let's see how they wear.
With regards to the flat spot: Yes! The flat spot bites! The bike feels unwilling to turn, and then, once you get off the flat spot, it feels totally dedicated to staying in the turn, and not the GOOD kind of dedication . . . more like the stubborn-as-a-mule type of dedication. It'll stand back up again, but you've gotta' use more effort to do it, just like getting it to turn in the first place.
Hate the flat spot. Hate it . . .
