You definitely have to shop around. When I got my first bike, a Ninja 500, I had a hard time finding someone to insure it. Geico, at the time, insured all motorcycles EXCEPT the Kawasaki Ninja line. Go figure. I tried Progressive next and in less than five minutes, they flat out told me they would not be able to insure me because 1. my age and 2. the bike was classified as high-performance. I tried State Farm next and they wouldn't insure the bike unless I moved my car under them also. Since I would have been paying more on car insurance with them than I was currently paying, that option was out. Luckily, All State was willing to insure me reasonably without needing to include my car on the policy. A couple years later I switched both vehicles over to USAA and I've been happy ever since.
