I have a 97 Sportster XL1200 Sport and the bike is narrow. Plenty of get up and go considering the weight to power ration. I'm 5'8", 235lbs and my wife says I look too big on the bike because I'm so wide (fat) and the bike is so narrow.

I just purchased a Suzuki M50 (softtail style) and it's less power, but a more aggressive look and wider stance. Low center of gravity so for a cruiser, it is very tossable and a joy to ride in the straights and twisties...good luck.
