First Ride on M50 - any suggestiong about dealing with the stealer, price, etc
Sold my Virago 250 and am in the hunt for my 1st M50.
I'm partial to the '08 Limited in Silver/Black or the '09 Limited in Black/White...I know I could always get any bike painted.
Naturally the '08 I'd had my eye on the past 5 months sold last week while I was in Costa Rica and before I'd sold my bike. Thank you Mr Murphy.
Both dealers only had the '09 Orange/Black Limited, but said they could try to do a search.
One dealer quoted $6865 OTD, saying he MIGHT be able to do better and would offer 20% switch to C50 bars. So does that sound like a decent deal? Additional charges were tax, title, tag, document. Tag on the bike was $6499.
2nd dealer was more typical stealer (what number would earn your business, blah blah blah). He only came to 7999 with bar swap included.
The high dealer actually let me ride it...very smooth but I felt like I was reaching for the vehicle in front of me. I finally wound up sitting partly on the tank due to the long reach for the bars. This is the only thing that REALLY worries me. Reach to the ground was no problem, but I might consider lowering it for decreased center of gravity.
I wouldn't say it felt like it fit me perfectly, but I really like all the features on the M (cast wheels, blacked out, FI, liquid cooled). From my rides on the Vulcan 900 custom and Vstar 950, I think I would have to change fewer things on the M to get it to "fit" me.
Though I haven't ridden one, I'd say the Vstar 1100 custom feels like it fits best when sitting on it - but I really don't want the spoke wheels and this is its last year of production - from what I hear. Plus no FI or liquid
I continue to look for private sellers online as well. I'm not opposed to buying used.
Any last minute tips would be appreciated!
