[old new biker]

I am considering doing my own valve adjustment, but would like to know what all needs to be removed to get to the valves. This part does not show up in any of the valve adjustment threads that I have found. They all assume you are at the point of seeing the valves already.

I assume at very least that the tank needs to come off, then the valve covers. Correct?
Are new valve cover gaskets required?
Etc....
