Default Question about installation of Cobra Slip-on's

Hi everyone,
I put on some cobra slip-ons for my '04 V-Star 1100 Classic and had 2 questions.

In the instructions that came with the cobra pipes it says 2 things that kind of confuse me. At the top of the instructions it says

PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE YOUR STOCK GASKETS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS AS TO THEIR CONDITION, REPLACE THEM.

So this statement makes me think you need to put the gaskets on the new cobra pipes.

Then in the instructions it says: Make sure gaskets are removed from stock head pipes.

Then it never says anything about putting them back on.

And I was looking at the new cobra pipes and the entrance to them is quite a bit smaller than the stock exhaust pipes and there would be no way to put the gaskets from the stock pipes into the corbra pipes, or if there were any gaskets to install anyway, it would make it way too tight and it probably wouldn't even go on. So I just installed it without the gaskets and it seems to be fine, I don't sense any exhaust leak or power loss.

So I was wondering if I was correct in doing this.

The second question is if I need to re-jet the bike now.

I figured if I just got slip-ons it wasn't really a big deal but I do seem to be getting some back firing after installing these pipes.

Thanks for any future replies.
