Dropped my bike! How to with pics!
Well I did it today....maybe a better word is "lowered".
Here is a write up with pics for all to enjoy.
Tools needed Ratchet 8 inch extension 10,12,14,15,and 17 mm Sockets 1 17 mm wrench ,8mm allen from your took kit, .Floor jack, and a smaller hydrolic type jack.
1st Make or Purchase a set of lowering bones.I selected to make a set of 7.5 inches long. See pic #1 You will need to notch the right side bone ,or it will bottom out on the frame see pic # 8
2nd Remove the 2 side covers, and the tool box,and cover on the left side.See pic #2
3rd Remove the cover from the right side....1 8mm allen from your tool kit.
4th Remove Fuse box holder brackets 3 screws.See pic #3
5th Break the nuts loose from the right side 17 mm wrench 17 mm socket.See pic # 5 ,and 7
Break them loose from the right side, then put the wrench on the nut ,and go to the left side ,and ratchet them off.
6th Support your bike with the floor jack, and a 2x4.
7th Remove the mono spring from the forward most bolt, and let it slide down so you can remove the bolt from the dogbone.See pic #6
8th Put in your new dogbones, and replace both bolts, then put the small jack under the spring, and lift it up using the jack until it is in place for the bolt that holds it.
9th Tighten it all up.
10th Put your covers back on,and Enjoy!
This I would rate a 3.5 out of 5 wrenches difficulty. This should take you about 1-2 hours to complete.
GOOD LUCK!
