Just my 2 cents ... I've had a few helmets, and while my Shoei X-11 was slick, for about 1/4 the cost I bought the Seven Zero Seven Vendetta (Cycle Gear's brand, made by Bell). I don't really notice much weight difference, but my pocket sure is fatter.

Most helmets that are DOT and Snell approved are comparable in protection, it's just the materials, design and name you pay for. My X-11 was carbon fiber; very light ... but I had it when I had sport bikes. On the cruiser, sitting mostly upright, for me like I said I don't really notice any weight or aerodynamic differences. The 707 has adequate venting for me and looks great too, without being overly sporty for the cruiser.
