1999 intruder 1400 problems (starting & clutch)
hello all,
I am new to this forum but not new to motorcycles, I have owned and worked on many different makes/models. I am hoping someone here can give me some info or point me in the correct direction.
I am currently working on a 1999 intruder 1400 that has been sitting for a while. there are two main problems.
1. the bike dies everytime I try to shift it into gear, almost like an electrical problem, if i can get it back into neutral before it dies it revs back up like the ignition was cut off and back on.
2. starting problem, I have reaplced the battery and the starter solenoid and the bike was doing fine for a few days and now it is completly dead in start mode. the lights all come on, horn works, etc. but when i push the start button there is nothing happening. I can jump the starter solenoid and the bike starts up adn runs. all fuses are good.
I have changed the oil and filter, bled out the clutch many times, replaced the spark plugs and oiled the air filter as standard maintenance but the starting and clutch problem have got me baffled.
If anyone has any info that may be of help, please chime in.
thank you in advance
Dan
