contact the NHTSA for updates.

Consequence:
THE PURPOSE OF THIS STANDARD IS TO PROVIDE SAFE OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE LEVELS.
Remedy:
METZELER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE NONCOMPLIANT TIRES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT METZELER CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT 1-877-202-4993."
I suspect metzeler did not do this on their own, it is because of riders like us who took the next step, I suspect other sizes will follow suit shortly, although the specific recall spells out mislabeled tires, its nice to know big brother is watching metzeler closely, I hope they keep looking and listening to those of us that had problems with sidewall cracking issues. So much for quality control!
