You are right about not using Windex or any glass cleaner on your plastic (Lexan probably) windshield. Most bike shops sell plastic windshield cleaners that will do the job. Usually Meguiar's ($10.00 +or-) or Slipstreamer ($7.00 +or-) Both work real well and a bottly will last a long time. However in my not so humble opinion the best value in windshield / face shield cleaner is.....gasp!.... Lemon Pledge.
I have used it for probably thirty years with great results. I keep a can in my tank bag for cleaning shields on the road and one or two in the shop. Pledge also works great as a wax on plastic bodywork.
