I do it also, sorry. TS, you may have a shorted cell in the battery,
with the battery charger hooked up you will read the voltage
amount of the charger. Unhook the charger and you read the
voltage of the shorted battery. Just a thought, had a tow-motor
at work, kept changing voltage regulators and alternators and it
would still do it, found battery to be bad.
