1993 GSX600f Carb Problems
Hey guys, this one has me stumped. I just picked up a 1993 GSX600f with about 13K miles on it. It has stock carbs, exhaust pipe and air filter, as far as I can tell it is 100% stock. The carbs were fully plugged up with varnish and the standard goo that accumulates after a bike sits for some time, I think it was last licensed in 2000 so it probably sat for 7 years. I cleaned out all the jets and orifices within the carbs and replaced all the O-rings. The bike will start very easily and now it even idles OK but when I rev it up, just off idle, the RPMs want to hang around 3,000 or so and then slowly come back to idle. I have the pilot screw out 3 turns, I started at ½ turn out which is what it was set at when I began and tried it at ½ turn intervals. I thought there was an air leak somewhere but I will get it started and warmed up and spray carb cleaner all around the carb boots but the engine will just stay at the same idle RPM so I don’t think there is an air leak. I am 95% sure all the orifices are clean and open, I have done this on other bikes over the years and I always got them to run like a top after a thorough cleaning. I also put some Seafoam motor treatment in the gas and it has been run about ten times since. Has anyone gone through this headache or have a suggestion; I am not sure what to do next. Thanks for any help. Jim
