Default I've Grown to Love my Ride

A month or so ago, I bought a Vstar650 Custom that was "for sale" along the road. I bought it in a rain storm. After cleaning it up (a lot), I proceeded to put on a quick 1000 miles. Then I started adding up the list of "likes" and "dis-likes" and started to think about the 2' boat anxiety, but thought I'd keep it and start working on the "dis-likes". I added new Metz tires, including a 200mm rear, gutted the seat to help put me in a better riding position (I think the originall tends to push you forward too much). At that time, I felt pretty good about it all. I was having a little problem with comfort still, so I ordered and installed a peg extension kit (4") and fell totally in love with this bike. I know all the power concerns, gearing, etc. but for 90% or the time, it is fabulous. I feel like I am part of the bike. It's also easy to work on and I like the "fiddling around" and working on it. All my friends and family think I'm nuts but screw them. I'm the happiest 60 yr. old fool there is. Thanks for everyone's insight in doing the seat, mufflers, tires and extensions! Now on to performance and paint.
