I ended up poking the oil filter with a screw driver and hammering it off the bike. The OEM filters will be returned to the dealership, and the filter removal tool returned to Cycle Gear. While at Cycle Gear, I'll be buying K&N oil filters with that VERY cool hex head design making it easy to remove the filtler.
