Default Riding again @ 50 and it's great!

Hi folks,

Thought I would introduce myself. As you can see, I'm new here. I recently purchased an 04 VStar Classic (Aug 4th) after a 25 year absence of riding do to life and children. This is my second ride I've owned. My first ride was an 1981 or 82 Yamaha 450 Twin (can't recall, senior moment here) It was main transportation for me when I was recently married and going to school. It was a good ride for me at the time and then child #2 came along and that changed the whole transportation scene. Bye bye bike, hello station wagon era.

Wife and I are currently 'college' empty nesters since 04 and it's been great. A summer here/there when one child is home, but gone in fall,,,yay! Got rid of '98 Taurus wagon for new '08 Saturn Aura this May. ('my' second new car ever) Better half told me if I didn't get a bike this summer she would be 'unhappy' - OMG! - green light! I start looking/researching, and ended up with my 04 VStar Claasic. It came with windshield, passing lights and saddlebags. I added the passenger backrest (momma needs that!). There were issues with passing lights (not working) and a high idle. This equated in a $300 less offer on purchase. OK, working through some minor technical problems, fast idle, and shifting 1st to 2nd(bent shifter, now corrected ), I now have a very enjoyable ride. My driving confidence is growing every time I ride. Momma is likey the ride very well too!

In summary, riding again is way cool, but has it's challenges. 25 years makes a diff. I rode then, defensively like I do now, but it is much different now with peeps on cell phones and driving, blah blah, you know what I mean.
