No problem with synthetic I purchased my bike with 2000 miles on it. It had an aftermarket oil filter, so I'm sure it was changed at least once, probably at the 600 mile service. I did my 4k service last night, and the oil was nasty. Whoever did it probably used standard 10w-40 automotive, which will not hold up in a bike. I went with Mobil-1 racing synthetic for V-twins. It's amazing the difference it makes. The noises I had started to hear are gone, even the sound the bike makes when coasting to a stop and downshifting into first gear. I will be looking to go with a cheaper synthetic next time around, but I am more than pleased with the results.
