I VERY LIGHTLY dragged the corner of a flat head screw driver over it a few times, just to break up the sticker so when I sprayed it with goo gone it could soak in easier throughout the sticker. Then I took a credit card to it and kept soaking it with goo gone. A finger nail might work for putting some scratches on the sticker, and would definitely be safer on the paint than the screw driver, or maybe even a plastic putty knife.
