Great River Gravel Ride 2008 - ADVrider

Well I didn't get much for pictures, but this link should give you some idea of the ride.

On the way down there Thursday afternoon, I found out how far a DR650 will slide on wet blacktop.
I hit some sort of oil slick half way through a 35 MPH left hander, and I went down so quick that I was already sliding on by back before I even knew I was falling.

Guess how much road rash you get from a 75 foot slide on wet blacktop with only your rain gear to protect you???????????????????????????????? Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The answer is "NONE"

I couldn't believe that I slid that far, and never even tore my rain gear, and to make it even more unbeliveable, the bike was basically undamaged, a bent clutch lever, some scratches on the front fender, and left hand guard, left side bar end weight was missing, and the little rubber bumper on the shift lever was gone. That's it!!!!
That was at about the 200 mile mark for the W/E, and we did a total of just over 1,000 miles with no issues showing up. I did develop a slight exhaust leak, but I doubt that was as a result of the crash.

Ever notice that the person
telling you to calm down
is the same one that got you worked up
in the first place.
