I've been looking here and there (did a search here) at options for communication between bikes. Still can't seem to find what I really want. So here is what I want to do:

When I do long back road rides I usually wear a pair of Shure in-ear headphones connected to my iPod. I like how they reduce the wind noise by about 85-90% and help make extra long rides much less tiring.

Now I'm going on a road trip with some buddies and there will be 4 bikes and we want to be able to talk to each other from time to time. Now I would like to be able to continue to use my Shure's and iPod but have the music muted when someone wants to talk, then have it return to normal after.

I've seen some that require using in-helmet speakers that come with the units but nothing that will do what I want above. Is there anything out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I figure spending $150-$300 is about right since I already have the iPod and headphones.
