I have always ran high beam day and night unless traffic prevented me from doing so. The more you can see at night the better and the brighter the light during the day the better the chance of being seen. If you check the local cycle shops some sell a device that allows the headlight to flash (also the tail light (when stopping). Not sure who makes it.
