I used to slip a disc on a regular basis...up until a few years ago. Then I met this crazy old guy, who turned out to be a retired Chiropactor.
He had me get on the floor on my hands and knees, although this is position which makes me nervous I did it anyway, and he told me to extend my back...arching it upwards like a cat stretching. Then do the same thing bending the back the other way...pushing my stomach towards the floor (basically the opposite movement).
Do this 3 or 4 times...really reaching and trying to stretch the back as far as possible in either direction.
I haven't had a slipped disc since, or any other sort of back problem.
While I tend to agree that your problem is more the riding position you're using...doing the cat stretch on the back might also help strengthen yours enough to help ease some of the pain.
Holy cow...I really gotta start checking dates!
