I have no problem getting up early & leaving right away, and I've ridden the V Strom straight through from Gattlenburg to St Paul (1025 miles, 18 hours) so long rides are not a problem, I'm just saying the concentration levels required for riding those roads will wear you out a lot faster than your used to.
As Sean said, the first year we did a 250 mile day (group ride) and everyone agreed that it was about 50 miles to long for those roads, now with all that being said, my vote would be for a longer (300+ mile) day on Sunday just to take full advantage of Sean's kind offer to be our tour guide, we can always rest up a bit on Monday.
One of the things I learned on my long trip in 06 was that if I tried to pack too much riding into one day, it all started running together, and everything started looking the same. QUALITY, not QUANTITY is the name of the game.
