This girl I was dating about three years ago did that. I instantly pulled off the road, turned the bike off, sat there for a few seconds and then asked her, "What the hell was that?!?!" I told her, "You can't wave like that. There's no coolness factor in that (I did an exaggerated wave like I was a 5 year old on my first ever bike ride). Please don't take a turn to dork town."
From there on she waved the correct way.
