anyways, the law is clear on this, and as far as Sikh beliefs go, the main purpose of the turban is to support their uncut hair. There is an alternate headwear called a 'pakta' which many younger sikhs wear (particularly because it does not interfere with sports and other activities) that would allow for wearing helmets without compromising any of their religious beliefs.

These people KNOW that there are other options, they are just hiding behind their religion to gain special privileges.

BTW- Sikhs are not muslims. Their religion is closer to hindu.
