I have the same thing happen to me on my 04. I know it's a big no no but I'll admit I ride with mine also. I noticed my AlpineStars don't have this problem though. Also I don't have problems with my hiking boots. So I'd say just get a different set of boots.
I was thinking though..wifey here has an 06...the year you have has adjustable pegs though doesn't it?
