One thing to take into consideration is our ages, as we get older our ability to survive trauma diminishes. Have the exact same crash with the exact same same injuries at 25, 45 and 65 and the outcome might be very different. At 25 you may just walk out of the hospital after a short stay, at 45 that stay may be longer or you may die from your injuries and at 65 you may not even make it to the hospital.

So older riders shoul wear more gear, protect everything you can, from your head to your toes and everything in between with the best gear you can afford. Same for any passenger you care about.
