I know what you mean, I can usually tell what gear I'm in from the sound, but I ride w/ guys w/ the new 6 speed box and sometimes I find myself trying to go up another gear on the highway. I'm running a lot more rpm than they are. Anything below 50 and I just leave it in 4th and let the torque work.
