Ok, let's start by saying that there are no bad roads in the Lake Placid area.

My home town is about 40 miles from LP, it's one of my favorite destinations. There's lots of "loops" that you can run:

Rt 73 south to Keene, Rt 9N north to Jay, Rt86 West through Wilmington, past Whiteface Mountain (Olympics), back to LP. About 50 miles.

Or Rt 73 south, link up with 9N south and follow it to Elizabethtown, then Rt 9 north to Keeseville, Then 9N south again to Jay, Rt86 West through Wilmington, past Whiteface Mountain (Olympics), back to LP. About 90 miles.

Or Rt 73 South to County rd 56 (I think, it's just south of the exit 30 underpass), to Mineville & Port Henry. Rt 9N south to Ticonderoga, the turn around and come backup 9N to Rt 22 to Rt 9 to Keeseville, then back to LP as above. About 150-160 miles.

Or Rt 86 From LP to Saranac Lake, then Rt3 east to Plattsburgh. From there you can go south to Keeseville, then back by your route of choice (about 100-110 miles), or take RT 190 north out of Plattsburgh to Rt 11 west to Malone. Rt 30 South goes to Saranac Lake, then Rt 86 to LP. about 150+ miles.

Or, if you want a ride, take Rt 86 to Saranace lake, then Rt 3 to Tupper Lake, from the Rt30 south to Long lake, then Rt 8 east (?) to Rt 9 north, which eventually gets to Elizabeth town or Keeseville, then back to LP as previously described. About 225 miles.

All the above is 2-lane, no interstates

So yeah, there's some pretty good riding to be had in that area.

I'll probably have Saturday the 8th free...
