I was just passing through when I saw my old thread. I went on that ride, twice in fact. The road is less twistie then I thought, except for the hairpin turn of about 180 degrees. Also, my calculation was a little off. I stayed about 50 miles south in a little town called Laconia. Anyone ever heard of it? I decided that I didn't want to ride the slab any more so I found rte 3 that dumps you into Licoln. Nice road that was a bit more twistie then the kacamagus and very nice scenery. It runs parrallel with the scenic railroad.
The first time I did the ride, I took 16 to 25 back to Meredith and onto Laconia. the second time, just made a u-turn and went over the road one more time.
If this is where the gathering is to take place, I may just have to make a point to go. Just a little heads up though. My wife is on vacation up there now and went over the kacamagus on tuesday and they are doing a bunch of work on the road. Hopefully they will be done as not to interfere with the leaf peepers.
Also, if you are into tattoo's, I know a great artist up there. He is by appointment only. His name is Tim and you can find him at
