Well, I rode the Kanc this Saturday. Took off from CT on Friday afternoon and nailed I-91 all the way north into NH. After cleaning what seemed like thousands of insects off my wind shield, I hit the Kanc starting from the Lincoln, NH end. Tourist traffic was light, perhaps owing to the overcast skies, cool temperatures (low 60's to mid 50's), and intermittent drizzle. I was decked out in full waterproof textile gear and my full-face helmet, so I just cruised! Traffic was unbearable heading into Conway at the eastern terminus of the Kanc, so I rode NH-16 west into Ossipee and ate at a great BBQ joint. Sped up NH-25 through Meredith, Plymouth, Rumney, and on to NH-10 to where I was spending the night. I got antsy and took off for a spin down NH-302 to Sugar Hill and Franconia Notch. Rode route 10 from NH straight through to CT today. All said, a 650 mile weekend - first big trip on the M50. The cool weather was remniscent of autumn, and I can't wait to ride the Kanc in October when the foliage is in full splendor.
