Default My first ride on my M50, and now I should clean it!

First I want to thank all of you who answered my questions and gave me advice in my "buying an M50 tomorrow" thread. I have the bike now and have never in my life been more satisfied with a purchase.

My dad brought his Harley to my house yesterday and we went cruising to a campground approximately 20 minutes away. (It took us an hour though because we took backroads as he didn't want me on the highway just yet)It was my first ride that wasn't in my 10mph speed limit residential neighborhood. (For those who don't know, I have my permit only and will be taking the MSF class in August)

Let's just say I was impressed ALL AROUND with this bike. First of all I never imagined 800cc's would have such good acceleration. Everyone really is right when they say 800cc is enough engine for a beginner, even on a cruiser.

The ride there was great. we took backroads out to the campground my parents were camping at. My right wrist was killing me by the time I got there (1 hour later) but it was still a great ride. After dinner we went home and this time we took the highway. That was pretty awesome too. Going on the highway with no windshield is an amazing experience. I have a full front helmet so I just leaned forward a bit and enjoyed the ride.

Some dork in a sport-bike jetted past us going about 120mph at least. He came up on us so fast that I didn't ever see him in my rearview mirror and he was only in our sight for maybe 30 seconds after he passed us... and this is on a highway where I could easily see at least a mile ahead of me. Had a car merged into the fast lane he would have been killed. Guys like that are what gives sport bikes a bad name.

I was apparantly oblivious to the hand signal that bikers give to eachother in passing. I saw my dad doing it but I was too nervous to take my hand off the steering wheel to do it myself. I had never noticed this before but was interested to hear my dad explain it.

But here's the beef of the story: My baby needs washing. Honestly I don't have a clue how to go about this. I don't assume it's like a car where you just bust out the water hose and start washing. Does anyone have any tips on washing a motorcycle? And also does anyone have any tips on what kind of wax to use? I've used rain-x fast wax on most of my cars because it's easy and leaves an amazing shine.
