I've got a GZ250. The stock seat is torture after only a few minutes. I have almost NO "natural" padding. There are no aftermarket seats. I got a gel pad and it helped some but not much.
So, I've been studying seats the last few days and noticed that all the big cruisers (that I saw anyway) had the front of the seat slightly higher than the rear.
So then I figured: What the hell, I'll see if I can try THAT. Turns out it is easy to do for a quick test just by putting the front tab on TOP of the bracket instead of locking it underneath; raises the front about 1-1/2 inches and the rear will still lock in place. At the same time, I pushed the gel pad back as far as it will go.
This might be the placebo effect, mind you, but at this point I think it has made a WORLD of a difference. I need to ride some more to be sure and then make some slight mods to make the new angle permanent. I think it puts just a little bit of the weight support on the gluts/thighs instead of squarely on the tail bone (area).
Time will tell. If it works for me, it may work for others too.
Then again, it might just be all in my head.
