You are going to like the GPS V. I've had mine on 3 bikes with the Ram mount. Very stable.
One thing.....I only ran mine with batteries (25 hour life) and had to insulate them by placing 2 thick rubber bands between the top two and also the bottom 2 batteries. Then I put dialectic grease on bottoms and tops of batteries, because, in time the jiggling will cause it to go on and off.
A well made unit...I bought mine in 2003 and just had it worked on ($50 for new memory battery) Now I use it for a back up since I just put a Garmin 2610 hardwired. It is outstanding!! Color is a great thing.
They sell a kit for hard wiring. And yes, it will be brighter with it.
By the way, watch out for the antenna flying off.....a common thing. Then you can get a remote magnetic gain antenna that you can slap on something metal.....works a little better.
You're gonna like that thing!
