And the seat! Most of my riding is not short rides, mostly rides of 300-500km at a time.
Not happy with the stock seat. OK, but certainly not the best.
This topic has been done to death on the VR forum, MIG forum, and here. There are quite a few solutions. I chose the one that doesn't cost $400. Total cost - $9, and I have foam to do 3 seats!
So, today, I bought some high density foam (for gymnastic mats, it is waterproof already, and wont disintegrate over time) about an inch thick, cut to size, pulled off the seat cover, added on top, and refixed the cover.
Stretching the cover was the hardest part!. Tomorrow I will see if it does the trick. Seat height is about 3/4 inch higher than stock, less when I am sitting on it LOL. Now plenty of padding over the tailbone hump!.
When you remove the cover, it is plain that there is less than a quarter of an inch padding over the 'hump' for the seat mount/bolts. No wonder it hurts after 2-3 hrs!.
Used a std light duty hand stapler (6 mm staples) to re attach the cover, no problems at all.
Have attached a couple of pics. The seat is now clearly flatter rather than dipped. Didn't take pics of the std seat - we all know what it looks like!
