I was wearing a 1/2 helmet when I demo'd the Harley.
I'm not sure what caused it, but I can't imaging the buffeting being WORSE if I'd had my full-face.
My recommendation for anyone considering a Street Glide:
Demo the thing a few times; Change helmets for each demo and make sure you will not have the buffeting that I experienced (sounds like others have experienced similar too).
