The other day I was on the highway going about 75mph. I needed to make my exit about 1/2 mile ahead so I started to make my lane change across this long tar snake and to my horror just at the point where the lane stripes difine each lane there was a crack approximately 4 inches wide by 4 deep and 50 feet long. At that moment I did four things in a split second...
1- My eyes bulged out in disbelief 2- I Pictured my front tire just burrying itself in that huge crack and the bike highsiding at that speed 3- I punched it and tried to steer it to cut across it at as high degree angle as possible
4- Almost went no. 2 in my pants. As you can tell I made it! But can you imagine this happening at nightime? Since then I study the roads a lot closer and I'm finding that there are plenty of these cracks on the roads especially where multiple lanes join. I know that we may be seen as 2nd class road vehicles but are these highway authority people oblivious to the dangers these cracks pose not only to cars but especially motorcycles? or are they waiting for one of us to bite the dust before they are repaired.
Has anyone here had a similar experience?
