Default Hello, first time post for a first time rider

Well, I wanted to say hello.. I am a first time rider and I just purchased my first bike a Suzuki M50. Because of events beyond my control I have had the bike for about 3 weeks but have not been on it until yesterday. Although I do plan to take the basic riding course before I get my license I felt that I had to at least get on the bike and see how it felt with it running.

My brother-in-law has my bike at his home where he can keep it in a garage until I get my license. Both he and his wife are both long time HD riders so they have been very supportive of my wanting to ride. Well i went to their home and they showed me how to sit on the bike and showed me all the different parts of the bike i needed to know... like the brakes and the kickstand and so on.... well, I got on the bike and started it up and I have to admit I was both exhillerated and also very scared. I have driven many things in my life from cars to big rigs to military vehicles but was definetely a new experience. I practiced letting the clutch out until i started rolling without giving it any gas and at first i was swerving back and forth (private road on private property ....i'm old ..not dumb) but eventually i was able to keep it in a semi straight line.

Even though I don't think i went over 15 or 20 mph I am hooked on the feeling, I have scheduled my basic riding course for next week and hopefully after that I will go get my license. In addition I will probably need to pick up a few handgrips .... I think I left my finger indentions on my handgrips...(just alittle nervous). Well...I just wanted to thank all of the wonderful people on this site. I have read alot on here and I believe that i was alot more prepared for that first ride. This site is really informative and the people all seem very supportive... I really am glad I have chosen to ride. Well, I hope everyone has a great day and I look forward to learning even more from the wonderful people on here.

Sincerely: Andrew
