Nice to hear you're out riding Blackie, enjoying the great weather we've been getting. Wish I could have fit a day or 2 with you. Still dealing with that 'family situation'...
A week and a half ago, my oldest daughter, almost 17, was out dirt bike riding with some friends on their acreage. She took a fall, which in itself didn't hurt her, but she got pinned under the bike with the exhaust laying across her right calf. The bike was too heavy for her to get out from under it, so the pipe just sizzled until one of her friends could get over to her and lift the bike.
The result is 3rd degree burns. She has been in the VGH burn unit since Saturday. It turns out she's needed surgery for a skin graft. The surgery went well. Looks like she'll be there for the rest of the week.

Despite all my talks with her about wearing protective gear, it didn't dawn on her to wear proper protection riding in tame farmer's fields. She happened to be wearing pants that end at the knee, so the pipe was against bare skin. It's sad to see her having to endure this kind of pain. Pretty hard lesson to learn. She hasn't given up on dirt bike riding, but her perception of safety has been kicked up a knotch.

When things settle out a bit around here, and if your still on the road, we'll get you that coffee and catch up.

In the meantime, keep avoiding the roadkill and enjoy the 24 deg weather.
